15th January 2025
On Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, a successful jobs fair was held at the Crown Oil Arena, bringing together Rochdale AFC Community Trust, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and Rochdale Borough Council (Rochdale Work and Skills) to create an impactful event for over 600 job seekers in the borough.
The event, which took place at Rochdale AFC’s Crown Oil Arena, was designed to connect local residents with a wealth of employment opportunities. It proved to be a remarkable success, attracting a wide variety of attendees eager to find new career prospects, as well as valuable advice and support in their job search.
This jobs fair was a collaborative effort between three key organizations – Rochdale AFC Community Trust, the DWP, and Rochdale Borough Council (Rochdale Work and Skills) – who worked together to create an inclusive, supportive event for individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels. The goal was clear: to improve employment outcomes in the region and help local people take steps towards meaningful and sustainable employment.
Rochdale AFC Community Trust, which has long been an advocate for community engagement, provided its home ground, the Crown Oil Arena, as the venue for the event, ensuring easy access and a welcoming atmosphere for all attendees. The DWP and Rochdale Borough Council (Rochdale Work and Skills) were instrumental in bringing together a diverse range of employers and job support services, allowing attendees to explore various career paths and resources.
The jobs fair featured a wide variety of employers from different sectors from around the Rochdale area. Job seekers had the chance to speak directly with recruiters, ask questions, and gain insights into the types of roles available, as well as the skills and experience required.
In addition to employer stalls, the event also included Rochdale Work and Skills and DWP offering guidance on training opportunities, apprenticeships, and further education programs. This comprehensive support ensured that job seekers had access to all the tools they needed to succeed.
The event was met with enthusiasm from both job seekers and employers. Many attendees left with new opportunities in hand, while others gained the confidence and resources to continue their job search with renewed determination. The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the support they received throughout the day.
“We are incredibly proud to have hosted this jobs fair in partnership with DWP and Rochdale Work and Skills,” said Scott Webster Education & Employability Programme Manager. “It’s fantastic to see local people come together, engage with employers, and explore the many opportunities available right here in our community. We hope this event has made a real difference for those looking to secure employment.”
The success of the January 14th jobs fair has sparked optimism for future events aimed at supporting the local workforce. Plans are already in motion for additional career fairs and community engagement initiatives that will continue to bring job seekers and employers together, fostering a more robust and connected local economy.
By working together, Rochdale AFC Community Trust, the DWP, and Rochdale Borough Council (Rochdale Work and Skills) have shown how powerful partnerships can be in helping people find meaningful employment.
